Chris Rutherford is a highly qualified and knowledgeable golf coach, bringing 39 years of experience to the Golf Central coaching team.

Chris joined the Golf Central team after holding the position of Head Professional at Royal Queensland Golf Club for 13 years and is now totally focused on growing the game through his coaching and club fitting. Chris’s dedication to the game and game improvement has always been his passion and this is seen through his involvement within the industry in positions such as the former coach for the Women’s Golf Queensland Futures Program, coach of the Kelvin Grove State College Golf Excellence Program, Chairman of the QLD PGA, Chairman of The Australian PGA National Tournament Committee and Board Member of the Australian PGA and Board Member of Performance Golf.

Chris is also a Titleist Advanced Fitting Professional (one of only six in Australia).

As a certified member of the Australian PGA, Advanced in Coaching, Chris has had extensive experience in golf coaching, club fitting and also playing on tour nationally and Internationally earlier in his career. Chris has a particular interest in short game development and wedge fitting. Having spent time with legendary wedge designer Bob Vokey Chris is well positioned to help you in this area. Chris has the desire to see people capitalise on their potential and develop as a player which only reassures his students that they are in the best coaching hands possible.

Chris believes that there are basic fundamentals that need to be met by all golfers, and that those fundamentals are the framework for the individual’s swing. Individual’s needs and goals, along with their physical and mental capabilities, need to be taken into consideration before a plan can be made. The golf swing is like a finger print, no two are the same.
